About

Laurie Engdahl Life-Long Painter | Art Enthusiast

I am a life-long painter (although until recently I made a living practicing law) and I am an art enthusiast! I have been painting in watercolors since I was young, but in recent years, my artistic endeavors have expanded into oil painting. I haven’t given up my watercolors, but I have fallen for the intensity of color I can get with oil paints.

I live in a small New England town, where my morning walks with my dog (Gaston) provide me with endless inspiration for my artworks. The New England landscape is part of my being; not only because of its natural beauty, but also because of the history reflected in its architecture. The New England landscape is so varied, as are the stories reflected in its weathered barns and antique structures. I also love to capture the way in which light and shadow influence the landscape - I cannot remember a time when I did not want to capture in paint the essence of a 'rare day' in June. I also LOVE painting florals and, more recently, combining flowers within the landscape just feeds my soul.

In addition to my own work, since leaving law, I’ve been having a ball engaging in other art-related pursuits: teaching (watercolors and wool felting) and leading workshops at a local nonprofit (@artforallconcord, which brings art-making opportunities to all without regard to ability or circumstance).
